Casting LA Actors 'Crazytown' May 2025 Comedy Play and Diversity Showcase

Casting a variety of hilarious roles for adults ages 18 and up in the one-act comedy play “Crazytown,” directed by Jon Taylor and produced by Walid Chaya for Studio For Performing Arts LA.





ABOUT THE SHOW: 

Crazytown - Take a tour of the most messed up town in America, from the police interrogation room where the nicest guy in town is issued a strange ultimatum, to the elementary school for a heated political debate on critical issues like tater tots. Welcome to Crazytown, where our motto is: Welcome to Crazytown.

DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PRODUCTION: 

This production will include a break-out cast of Los Angeles actors. Industry VIPs will be invited to attend the special engagement with a special Creatives Mixer following the show. Participants will also be awarded scholarships towards the studio’s upcoming programs led by Hollywood industry experts.

Dress Rehearsal & Performances:

Saturday, May 17th from 11am to 3pm (1103B N El Centro Ave)


Talent must be available in Los Angeles for all rehearsal dates: 5/1, 5/10, 5/13, 5/15, and rehearsal and performance on 5/17.


Contract: No pay; open to both Non-Union and SAG-AFTRA performers. If cast, there is NO fee to participate.

Young Adult Male, Ages 18–34: Male-identifying, To Play Multiple Roles including—Bobby Grantwood – An enthusiastic student candidate in the elementary school debate. / Tim Bixby – An excitable color commentator covering every mundane moment in the lives of two slackers. / Sheldon Grimes – A criminally kind teacher interrogated for being too nice.


Adult Male, ages 35–49: Male-identifying, To Play Multiple Roles including—Detective Kimball – A gruff investigator determined to reform the perp's extreme politeness. / Jim Pickles – A co-lead anchor of WOMG Action News, always game for the next absurd story. / Felton – A laid-back sports fan who has the "laziest showdown ever” with his best friend.


Older Adult Male, ages 50–65: Male-identifying, To Play Multiple Roles including—Merv – The veteran play-by-play announcer treating snack-time TV-watching like the Super Bowl. / Kevin O’Geddon – A paranoid apocalypse enthusiast endlessly checking his homemade “Apocalypse Machine.” / Solomon Spraytan – An overconfident field reporter “mauled” by a too-cute stuffed animal.


Young Adult Female, ages 18–34: Female-identifying, To Play Multiple Roles including— / Kaitlyn Parker – A rival student candidate debating tater tots and cooties in an elementary school president debate. / Olivia Flossboss – The upbeat health-segment reporter who’s enthralled by basic dental hygiene demos. / Sophia – The serious yet youthful moderator struggling to keep the grade-school debate on track.


Adult Female, ages 35–49: Female-identifying,To Play Multiple Roles including—Babs Buttlebee – The unflappable co-lead anchor of WOMG, juggling bizarre breaking news with grace. / Zelda Chickenfoot – The high-energy cooking show host teaching viewers how to “prepare” a bag of chips. / Doris Doppleflop – The well-intentioned but disastrously inaccurate weather anchor.


Older Adult Female, ages 50–65: Female-identifying, To Play Multiple Roles including—Francine – A player in “The Least Offensive Play in the Whole Darn World” / Shelly – The unctuous spokesperson for “The Play Purifier”, which sanitizes even the bit of offense from great plays. / Detective Mills – Sometimes “good cop” to Kimball’s “bad cop".


NON-BINARY PERSON, ages 18–65: Any Gender Identity, To Play Multiple Roles including—Jay Walker – An excitable “Crime Watch” reporter enthralled by live feeds from the police station. / Jeremiah Crockpot – A gourmet chef guest starring in the “Cook Or Be Cooked” segment. / Brody Pollman – The poll analyst frustrated by a high-tech touchscreen that refuses to function.
